Employers' organisations represent a key asset in any society: its enterprises. Successful enterprises are at the heart of any strategy to create employment and improve living standards. Employers' organisations help to create the conditions for enterprise success by influencing the environment in which they do business and by providing services that improve their individual performance.
As one of the three constituents of the ILO, employers' organisations have a special relationship with the Organisation. The ILO's Bureau for Employers' Organisations is responsible for the nurturing and development of that relationship.

What's new
Manual on Labour Migration
The ILO’s Bureau for Employers’ Activities (ACT/EMP) and the International Migration Programme (MIGRANT), in close collaboration with the International Organization for Employers (IOE), are preparing a Manual on Labour Migration to be published in 2009. The manual intends to move beyond discussion of labour migration policy frameworks to provide a practical tool for employers’ organisations and employers themselves to deal with labour migration issues. Among other issues, it will cover recruitment and employment of migrant workers, their treatment and protection in and beyond the workplace, implications of the legal and regulatory framework of labour migration, employer interactions with relevant government institutions and machinery, and guidelines and models of good practice for use by employers. The Manual will be mainly directed to staff of employers’ organisations and their members including national and multinational companies and enterprises who already employ or seek to employ migrant workers.
Regional meeting for Latin-American Employers Organizations on Communications
A regional meeting for employers organizations on employers communication at a time of crisis will be held in Guayaquil (Ecuador) from 31st August to 1st September 2009. Twelve employers' organizations from the region will discuss how to better communicate and interact with government, trade unions and society at large, representing and defending employers interests as well as making proposals that can drive change to the legislative and regulatory framework in which entreprises have to operate so as to acheive a business friendly and sustainable environment.
