90th Anniversary of the International Labour Organization

The ILO and its tripartite constituents - governments, employers and workers - celebrated the 90th anniversary of the establishment of the Organization (Versailles Peace Conference of 1919).

Africa marked this event with a wide range of high level activities from 21-28 April 2009. More than 50 countries in the region organized national events to promote the concept of “90 years working for social justice” under the overall theme of "Social Dialogue on Decent Work for a Fair Globalization".

The activities that were organised throughout the continent include inaugural ceremonies, national symposiums, exhibitions, historical photographic exhibitions, school competitions on ILO themes, wide distribution of different items with the 90th Anniversary logo, public lectures, panel discussions, public rallies, television and radio broadcasts.
